Energy has to flow here on this planet. This is our role. To direct the energy we are given each day in constructive, progressive and developmental ways. Choose wisely.

At some point you will have put the words down.

Put the maps down.

Close the sacred books.

Look up.

Stop being enthralled by the journeys

of your spiritual heroes

At some point, you will have to get up,

open your door and walk out into the

sunlight of your Being and feel its light and

its warmth on your own skin.

Firsthand.

No longer satisfied by catching a glimpse of it

through the windows of another’s experience;

but stand in its full and glorious light,

naked and vulnerable and

in holy surrender with the story of your life

with all its twists and turns and tortured tales

lying pink and belly-up under the dome

of the disinterested sky:

You must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame; How could you become new if you haven’t first become ashes?

Detachment is natural,
Attachment artificial.
Why pretend that happiness lies
In things external to oneself?
Why pretend that transient things
Will remain to provide one
With what is truly one’s own?
Why pretend that things seen
In a dream called waking,
Will even survive a simple
Change of the mind’s state?
Change of the mind
Changes all things.
What is present in one state
Is absent in another.
What one is attached to
At one moment,
One cares for not later.
If one can be so detached
Just by falling asleep,
How much more
Can one be detached
If one is truly awake?
Do not be afraid to let go
Of a world that does not really exist.
Natural it is to know happiness within.
Natural it is to be detached
From the transient.
Natural it is to transcend
The three states.
Natural it is to cling not
To their contents.
Detached toward things and actions,
Events and circumstances,
Creating neither expectation nor aversion
In his mind wedded to Truth,
In Union only with the Self,
Being-Consciossness-Bliss Absolute,
The wise one abides
In unwavering equanimity.
Natural it is to abide
With neither an “I” to grasp
Nor a thing to be grasped.
Detachment is natural.
